I dont do catering or cooking for big crowds but a there's a rumor going around that I may be asked to make some pulled pork for my wifes company golf outing and am not really sure how to figure amount per person and total amount needed.

Thanks,

Ken

Quick answer is 1/4 pound cooked weight per person on a 4" bun. Will there be other foods such as sides or other smoked meat?

On Edit; I would start out 1/2# per person precooked as buts can and do loose about 50% in trimming and cooking. Then to be on the safe side add 10%. Nothing is worse than running out food. They are going to tell you one number and then have more show up. Try to get as close to the REAL number as possible.

For pulled pork I buy 2 pound per 3 people and then trim fat etcetera and reduction from cooking and always turn out safe and yield you 10 - 12 ounces per pound.
I figure most folks eat 4-6 ounces on a sandwich or tortillas and then the extra for your heavy hitters.
Just the way I figure it, anyone else do it different?
