Default Smoker Chili & Some Mac

With all the ground beef I packed up the other week been thinking about chili. Saw Marty's awesome post this morning and it inspired me to do it today

No one recipe for chili I follow, but just kind of play around each time. This is actually the first time I've smoked the ground beef .

Also going to make a big batch of mac to freeze some half pans for later dates.

Few of the starting pics

When we moved the one concession I made was electric kitchen appliances, but I've come to love this Jenn air standard electric top the previous folks put in. It's got one section with like a turbo setting and it boils faster than my last gas range .

Anyways. more to come. Oh and might finally try that "non sweet cocoa powder" in the chili thing. Anyone here do that?

We've not tried that, but HAVE included some chopped baking chocolate (for faster melting) for some richness/bitterness.

Looks like a fun day!

Not cocoa powder, but I add bittersweet bakers chocolate to mine.

I've used cocoa powder in chili. It's a key ingredient in Cincinnati style chili.

More mac stuff. This is 4lbs of pasta and close to a gallon of cheese sauce. Sauce composed of costco monterey blend and off brand velveeta (only the best in this house ).

Oh no, a little charred on the bottom.....what shall I do.....

Makes about 3 half pans depending on how much you fill them

Here's the ground beef after about 90mins at 225 (2lbs). Mostly done and it will get finished in the pot.

I might have saved a few cups of cheese sauce for dipping type stuff.
