I'm like a pound daddy, I'm very pleased at how my first cook went. After a few problems all was well.
A big MAHALO to Smokingator, could not have done it w/o, he even called me in Hawaii, to check on me! What a guy! The pics will show I wrapped my ribs to early, but I had to leave for my kids fundraiser, but it tasted great, the butt was awesome. Thanks to all who helped, bigmista, tony, deeze, thirdeye, swamprb, modelmaker, you all were so patient w/ me.
Heres the first set of pics

second set of pics... told you I was a proud papa!
I couldn't find a weber lid. You'll see the one I made , I cut a little pass the bulge, with (rusty) jigsaw it would balance on the uds, I wanted a tighter fit, so a liitle pounding, it now sits over the lip of the UDS. Almost airtight!

Wow... I am impressed!!! Not only did you cook some great looking eats... you came up with my next mod. I love that extra section on the drum. I'm thinking three racks there baby!!!!

Great job bro...

Impressive Keale! That has to feel good, build your own cooker and cook kick a$$ food like that. SWEET!

In the end, it all came out looking really good !!! That is a wonderful job for your first cook on your stretch UDS.

Well now if I ever get the urge to fly west for umpteen hours at least I know where I can find some good BBQ.
Enjoy, you earned it.

I must admit, I was a little nervous posting these pics, YES, it did taste awesome:-D I had a sammy for dinner tonite, with coleslaw! I will be giving most of it to people for the help they gave me, barrel supplier, wood, etc..., I figure if he's happy, I'll get all the barrels I want for free!

Thanks for the kind remarks, to hear that from fellow breathen really, really means a lot! I've learned everything right here on this board!

BTW, the Lychee wood was great, very mild, I thought... but as you see...gave a nice smokering...

Aloha,

Roy
