I cooked one of those sale briskets the other day and it was one of the more weird butcher cuts I've seen a long time.

My Neighbor saw me putting Brisket in Fantasia and walked over.
I siad " Kroger has briskets for $1.47/lb". He Says "Ya but they have Too much Fat but I went up there and All the Briskets were $25-$28 / 15 -18 lbs." He has an Older Bandera and Smokes about 6 Times a Year........ He likes to buy 4 at 10-12 lbs and Smoke all 4 at once and Freeze 3 of them Whole then reheat in Oven for a cpl hours once a month or so. . I said since you Smoke them and Freeze them - just Buy 2 Larger Ones and cut them down after cooking and then Freeze. He said Nah, he don't like to do that. He doesn't like tending a Fire so he does 4 at a Time every cpl months. I said get a Charcoal Cooker and you don't have to tend it. He said "No, not interested in Spending $ on One and I’ve been doing it this Way for Years".

*had Academy picked it Up* ??

Did their deal fall through? $2000.00 is sort of steep. (ok- might be a nice weekend for for some of you- but big bux for the likes of me)

oh well, will stick to my 16, 30 and 55 gallon drums until the next (cheap!) thing comes along.

I have one of the cheap Kroger briskets on my 30 gallon- they are cut weirder than hell. Possibly was a OTJ training project for up and coming butchers. Very weird cut and lots of fat.

I like a little rub too. I wonder if they leave the fat on and the price comes out almost the same?

I don't reckon I have seen that old country before... What model is it? Looks like it could hold enough for a neighborhood.
