It's been a while since I've entered a Throwdown, but with the taco TD currently in progress, I simply had to do it.
A while back, Sako (ssv3) was telling me about Ziggy's, a Mexican meat market where we could get some seriously good chorizo. You can read more about it here:

I sent The Missus on a mission to pick up some pre-marinated carne asada and some of their famous chorizo, and she came back with this:
First, The Missus whipped up a batch of pico de gallo:
The Missus started on the Chorizo in the cast iron skillet:
The Missus cooked the chorizo, then took it off the flame so it could be finished on the grill later. At that point, The Missus started on making the tortillas, while I fired up the Kingsford oval with some briquettes and added a chunk of oak:
Here's the asada cooking indirect:
After the asada finished cooking, I finished the chorizo off on the grill over high heat so it could get some crispy goodness going.
Here's some of the asada chopped up:
Homemade corn tortillas and fire roasted salsa verde and salsa roja:
When I saw the tortillas up close, I knew they were going to be extra good:
And here's the first round of tacos, ready to chow on:
Chorizo taco close up:
The chorizo tacos were the star of the meal - this chorizo had way less fat than the commercial kind you get at the store and was packed with flavor. And the tortillas were off the charts! Magnificent, soft, pillowy goodness.
Kudos to Sako for turning us onto Ziggy's!
Thanks fer lookin'!
