Chicken Shawarma and Naan Bread
One of the members had posted this a while back. It looked so good, I figured it was time to try it. I've made it a few times already, but remembered this time to take some pics.
The Chicken Shawarma recipe I used comes from here: http://www.recipetineats.com/chicken...iddle-eastern/ And along with the Chicken Shawarma, I decided to make Naan bread as well. This morning I got things started. The ingredients for the chicken marinade - Cumin, cardamom, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, EVOO, salt, pepper, garlic, lemon. Mix it in a bowl and either place it and the chicken in a bag or brush it on like I did here to marinate. Refrigerate for a few hours or overnite. Boneless, skinless thighs work best for this dish. The fattier dark meat of the thighs helps keep the chicken moist and tender - In the meantime the Naan bread is being worked in the mixer with the dough hook - After about ten minutes of kneading - And after resting in a greased bowl with a tea towel in a warm spot for the day (wasn't difficult on an 87 degree day here in Massachusetts), it's ready to be cut into pieces - This dinner required both the Goldens' Cast Iron and the Bubba Keg. The chicken on the Goldens' - And the Naan on the Keg - Chicken coming along on the Goldens' - And served with a sauce, which in the recipe is yogurt based. I usually use plain Greek yogurt but the Mrs asked for it to be sour cream based tonite. Sauce contains garlic, cumin, lemon juice, S&P and the yogurt or in this case sour cream. Thinly sliced thighs - And ready to be served - Mine! Naan, sauce, diced cucumbers, diced roasted peppers, olives, tomatoes and chicken - Every bit as delicious as it looks! Give this a try. Thanks for checking out today's cook and tonite's dinner! Regards, -lunchman
