Funny thing if you read the instructions on how to use the rub, Oakridge discourages you from using raised aluminum grilling grates. :noidea:
 
Thanks everyone. I didn't know that about the raised grill grates. I have seen some people say you can get a gritty texture if you don't get a good sear on them, so that is probably why. I bet a cast iron pan sear would be ideal for this rub. It would build a good crust. I may try that soon.
