just wondering how you would season cast iron grill grates, cant remember the brand but they had a deal going... i heard about it here anyways

need tips for seasoning , storing and up keep , can i leave them out side in a covered grill ?

thanks

I have the stok brand. I didn't do squat to them when I got them. I switch them out every once in a while to the hinged grate when needed and leave the stok grates out in the elements. I have yet to get any rust, and I have yet to season them in addition to how they came. I've owned them for over 2 years now.

But if you want to season them, start a nice hot even fire, slather the grates with bacon grease and toss em on. You can do this a bunch of times if you want.

I've got the Craycort grates. All I did was install, cook and eat. Your going to like cast iron. :thumb:

I loaded mine up with greasy burgers. :thumb:
