Boy they didn't take long, I didn't time it, but I'd say 7 or so minutes they
were ready.

And boy was it good! I was at Costco a couple days ago and seen this NEW
Krusteaz mix, and had to try it. Well worth the money.

Your right.
That was way to much charcoal. I didn't know how much to use. It's been a hour and a half later and it's still running at 400. looks like it will be there for a while yet too.

Guess thats the learning curve.

Can i close this thing down and let it smother or will it creosote the inside?

Great Job! Yeah I start mine by lighting one piece of charcoal or lighting a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. Works like a charm. You have to light small fires and let them slowly come up to the desired temp.

And yea! Snuff out the charcoal you'll have plenty leftover for next time it's one of the benefits of the kamado style cookers.

Nice first cook! I will load mine with lump and then use a weber cube slightly buried in the lump. If I'm doing a low temp cook, I will break the cube in half and bury it in the lump and lite.

ok that corn pan is legit...where did u get that? i must have it!

Ya, that was a nice find. I got that and these two

at one of the scrap yards I visit. I just finished putting a season on the other two today. All three are pretty old time boys.

I like the pie shape pan, it has a hole all the way through the center, I have a couple others, but neither has that.

The Acorn is a magical cooking machine. Ditch the charcoal for lump like the book says. Like that CI too.
