I have a green mountain because I liked it better than the traeger but if money was no object I woulda got a mak no doubt. I'm quite sure you can compete with them...

For the higher price range, MAK for sure. GMG makes a very nice grill, they are the closest competitor to a Traeger with regard to performance and built quality, plus a few extras they built into their systems. Stay far away from Louisiana grills, they are junkers.

Ever look at the Royall pellet smokers out of Wisconsin. I saw them at the Jack and they are a 100% USA made trying to compete against Trager. Similar to Trager, but try to do it 2 steps better. They seem pretty well built cookers. I know 1-2 teams at the JAck even competed with them. You can also go pick one of them up being it's somewhat local to you.

For the price point, GMG. For higher quality, MAK. Either one will serve you well.

If you live in the East it's a Yoder, if you live in the West it's gotta be Mak. Traeger used to be great but they are now awful. Unreliable and poor quality. I looked at and cooked on a GMG before I bought my MAK One Star. Made in Oregon and solid as a rock..... but pricey. I love it!

I have the MAK 1 Star General and love it...the Pellet Boss controller is heads and shoulders above the current competition!

The shipping fee is what differentiates Yoder from Mak. Shipping a 200 or so pound smoker across the country costs a bunch of money. As far as I know, we don't have Yoder stores around here. Mak yes.

I don't own a pellet grill, nor have I cooked on one.... BUTT, I do have 2 friends that have purchased new Traegers in the the past year & both have died/malfunctioned within 2 to 3 cooks, 1 of them was my father in law...... When I asked him if he knew where it was made, he about Sh*t! .... "I thought they were made here" he replied...... They (Traeger's) seem kinda cheaply built to me..... I have seen the yoder's & know a few that have them & that's what I would buy.... Just me
