Default Rub for hot and fast butts?

I need to mix up a rub to do a couple of butts using the hnf method. The rub I used before had a fairly high sugar content and I am afraid it will burn. I have Simply Marvelous on order, but I placed the order too late for todays cook. Suggestions for a rub I can mix up?
Thanks
Harold

Some people just use salt & pepper.

Here is Donnie, Pitmaster T, Popdaddy's Butt Glitter Recipe.

Popdaddy’s ButtGlitter

8 Parts Tina Turner - Paprika
3 Parts George Clinton - Salt
3 Parts Little Richard - Sugar
2 Parts Chaka Kahn - Cumin
2 Parts Prince - Garlic Powder
2 Parts Rick James - Onion Powder
2 Parts Don Cornelius (Re-Ground before mix) - Celery Seed
1 Part Carlos Santana - Chili Powder
1 Part John Travolta Powder - Oregamo
1 Part Larry Graham - Black Pepper
½ part each of Fred Wesley Powder and Bootsy Collins - Mustard - Red Pepper or Cayenne

I copied it down a while ago. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it is good as the legend. Pitmaster T video's show this as one component of his tri-level process, using this with Lowery's as the first layer and Salt and Pepper as the final layer.

See this video: Pitmaster T Series - Hot n Fast No Foil Jucicitidinous Brisket - YouTube

Hopefully Donnie doesn't mind me sharing his recipe. He's been a little MIA recently. Please let us know how this goes for you. I'm going to do a Hot and Fast this weekend with just Salt and Pepper.

Hot n fast; like over 300?

Start with salt n pepper, add in some other peppers (like chili powder, paprika, etc), perhaps a little onion or garlic powder...
