BGE Coming Apart?

After I got done with my cook yesterday, I noticed there was quite a bit of smoke leakage out the back of my egg with the lid closed.

On closer inspection, the upper band (the one securing the lid) is not parallel with the lid edge. I've never noticed this being out of whack before so I have to assume this started slipping apart just recently.

Is the fix as simple as loosening the band bolt, re-aligning and re-tightening?

I re-tighten the two bolts once a year at least - BGE manula says to check them periodically...

I just removed the dome this weekend to get it in the table and noticed the band isn't perfect around the edge but it works - you can porbably loosen the top bolt, re-align and re-tighten.... Like they say in the manual, make it tight and don't worry - you won't break the ceramic by tightening the bolt too much...

How's the condition of your gasket?

Gasket looks good, except where I drop a piece of charcoal on it.

Well, try re-alignment and tightening the bolts. While the metal doesn't line up perfect with my top dome edge I also have never had smoke come out the back, must be because the dome is properly centered I'd assume....
