More wheels on a Bandera questions
Can anyone tell me if the frames cross bar under the fire box can support the weight if I put some swivel caster wheels thru the two pre drilled holes. I thought that may be the purpose of those holes but am concerned about the welds holding the weight. I'm probably going to add some fire bricks, too. Otherwise I'll have to place caster wheels where the legs are somehow. Any suggestions?

Hey Scotty,
Not sure on the age of your bandera so not sure on the gage of steel used to make it but, most of the banderas I have see would be able to support the wheels with out any issue. If you want to give some more info maybe a pic or two then I may be able to help more.

Thanks Chad,
It's a new, just purchased at least, OK Joes Bandera. I'll get some pics so I can show the area of concern for me...

Big Wheel Bandera Mod
We (the Bandera and I) were banished from the concrete patio - Too many grease spots
Since moving to the dirt, a wheel upgrade was required: Attachment 182274 Larger Rear Wheels, real casters in the front Attachment 182275 Had to drop the rear axle attachment point Attachment 182276 Front Caster attachment. I don't remember if I supported the bolt holes in the square tubing or not. I think I did... The spare propane bottle is stored under the cook chamber (my tray had the pop out, I used it) I don't run the Bandera on gas, nor do I cook with the bottle in storage. I need to make a fender for the rear wheel, it gets greasy. Al foil works, if I remember to put it on before the cook.

Here are the pre drilled holes I was referring too. I can't think of anything else they would be there for except for caster wheels. I just don't trust the weld between the bar and the vertical legs which are holding the weight now.

1-3/8" Expanding Stem Caster - 3" Non-Marking Polyurethane Wheel - Brake
I think this may be the answer for me. Just replace the legs with these guys directly. Rated at 250lbs. each. Height looks very close. Has anyone any experience with these casters?

The plan is to remove the vertical leg section below the tray bottom and install these? Do you know your tube ID?

These casters seem to work great. Just take off the legs and replace with these guys. The ID of the vertical tube is 38mmx 38mm. 1.49xxx inches. After adjustment the casters slide in nice and tight then you can tighten a bit more after installation per instructions. https://shop.servicecaster.com/expan...ers-s/3168.htm
