Ordered a Bread Lame
Lame-knife.jpg

so I decided to make a Boule. Started the dough last night, worked it this morning and set it for a second rise. Once the clay dutch oven was hot, I scored the top of the bread and in it went.

After 30 mins, I pulled the lid and continued to cook another 15 mins.

Probably the best looking loaf of bread I have pulled out of the oven.

You weren't loafing around, nothing lame about the result. Seriously outstanding job.

Looks great. My mom use to make bread. Just plain white and, sometimes saffron. She always used a loaf pan so it didn't look as awesome as your free-form.

Many times she timed it to be ready when I got home from school, still warm out of the oven. House smelled like heaven. Still miss that warm, fresh baked bread with butter.

So that tool is strictly for slashing dough before it goes in the oven? I never knew such a thing existed. But I do know it takes a sharp knife to slash dough.
Looks tasty by the way.

Great job! You need a follow up pic of a couple slices piled high with a whole mound of meat slathered in mayo and mustard.

It is hard to beat fresh bread, still warm, smelling up the house with good aromas. Nailed it!!
