Yesterday the wife and I and a some friends loaded up in the truck and headed south down to Hatch NM. First stop...Sparky's!! Had to get me a Sparky's World Famous Green Chile Double Cheese Burger. Yummy. I also had to get me a green chile chocolate shake on the way out. Surprisingly good.

After lunch we proceeded to stock up for the year on some green chile. I got 2 sacks (40lbs) of hot. Super meaty and tasty. I just love the smell of green chile roasting. We also picked up some red chile pods. I ended up bagging up around 35 bags or so of chile. They ranged from 1.5lbs to 2.5lbs.

Nothing like going to the source for Hatch Green Chile.

Thanks for looking.

Hatch green chiles don't taste any different than the green chile from San Antonio or Las Cruces, NM. We went to the farm store in San Antonio bought 75 lbs had it roasted and then went across the road and ate lunch at the Owl Bar and Cafe. The Owl has been there since 1945.

I totally agree. I normally get mine from Lemitar or just here in town. But it was all about the road trip with the wife and friends. Speaking of the Owl...I really liked the Buckhorn Cafe. Is it still open? I haven't stopped down in San Antonio in a long while.
