Rub applicator
Just curious as I was thinking through things today and had the idea to try a flour softer to see how it work in applying rub evenly. Has anyone else ever tried it or thought about it? I do fine with shaker bottles and dredge shakers but always thinking of consistency.

I use a sifter for brown sugar in my rib wrap. Depends on how fine or coarse the rub is I'd imagine.

Interstin idea. I'm not sure what advantage it would have over a quality shaker, but look forward to your thoughts if you try it.

Haven't been able to find one that brown sugar would pass through

^had the same problem with brown sugar through a sifter. I use a wire mesh strainer now when applying it - works pretty good.

Yes - just side to side. It breaks up the clumps and gives a nice, even and light layer.

Are you trying the "newer" style that has the squeeze handle? Those won't work. Look for an older style metal one with the hand crank on the side. Might work better.

I've used the mesh strainer a few times for brown sugar on ribs. While it looked amazing and consistent, the fished product showed no difference and left me with another item to wash and repack. Gave it up pretty quick
