Tested positive a couple days ago. Asymptomatic, but still can't join the family today for the meal.

Have the day to myself to make whatever. Looked through my list of bookmarks from this site and found the "Cheater Crown" by SirPorkaLot. Why not?

Got all the players together. Added some cajun spiced sausage to the mix as well.

Seasoned with Oakridge Habanero Death Dust on both sides. Figured the stuffing would tone down the heat. Followed the directions to get the "crown" formed, made the stuffing (first time doing this so I went with the quick/easy), stuffed the crown and put it on the UDS with B-n-B lump with cherry chunks running about 275*. Went on at 1:30 pm CST and will let it go for 3.5 hours or so. Windy and cool here today so decided against the stick burner.

The hasselback potatoes gratin went north to the Twin Cities with the bride. I saved a small amount for myself.

Back to the games...

That looks darn good!

Sorry about your situation. Hope no symptoms appear during your quarantine.

Very creative! I am going to have to try that, happy Thanksgiving!

I am also sorry to hear that you have to spend the day alone, but you certainly did find a good replacement meal! I know that you wouldn't want to put any loved ones in danger of getting sick, so that far and away is the thoughtful thing to do. Happy Thanksgiving.

2 hours in...

Can't use the bend test on these, so the super fast, red Thermoworks instant thermometer is getting the call.

163* between the bones and 160* in the stuffing. Heading for ~200* between the bones.

Looks Awesome and makes me want some! I need to ask before I try it. Did you have stuffing in there the whole 3.5 hours? That seems like a long time for stuffing

I did and probably shouldn't have. First time doing this, lesson learned. Top and bottom were crispy. Should have at least done a heat shield/pan below. Stuffing inside was good though.
