Thanks guys. There's a guy somewhere on Youtube with quite a following who had a blown caster as well. The casters are really good quality, but this does seem to be an issue. Fortunately it's just a caster. Everything else seems great.

The drama actually started when Estes pulled up in a huge truck and asked if I had a forklift. ....?

The driver told me that he had no way to get the 1,100lb crate off the truck without one. I responded with "Well, I guess you're going to have to take it back then." That seemed to work and we spent the next hour and a half almost actually killing ourselves trying to get this thing off the truck.

It turns out that was the easy part. Getting up the driveway was something I'd pay to see if I weren't on the wrong end of that circus.

Enjoy the smoker but I can’t imagine how ugly both pieces of that process must have been

It's an exciting time when a new smoker finally arrives at your house.

You figure a way to get it to it's spot despite any obstacles that may be in your way. Press onward young man!

I got it in. A couple of gardeners from across the street noticed my young son and I behind that thing and came over and offered some help. One was a small skinny guy and the other a big "gordo". The skinny guy stood on the smoker, on the opposite corner of the bottom shelf to provide balance while I pushed up against the side with the broken caster. I used a 2x4 to pry it over curb and three of us pushed while the skinny guy rode the side. It wasn't easy but it worked.

holy phark, that sucks! Just the two of you were able to get it off the trailer? Man I'm impressed, that must have been a sight to see.

That sounds like Estes to deliver a 1100lb crate on a truck without a lift gate.

They had a liftgate, but the crate was about 3' wider than the smoker and they couldn't get it onto the gate with the pallet jack. It didn't help that the smoker was tilting hard right and blowing through the side of the crate. We used the pallet jack and straps to shimmy the smoker onto the gate, which was beyond dangerous on so many levels with the smoker completely off balance inside the 1/4" ply crate and laying up against a blown out side.

It somehow worked out. Now I just need a couple of casters.

And some wood.

And some fire.

And some meat.

All set!
