Default New Pellet Smoker— Unbelievable Value

I am not a big fan of pellet smokers, but if you are, you are going to want a peek at this new unit. Seems like an unbelievable value at $497:

See my local Kmart has them in stock. Will have to swing by tomorrow and check them out.

It says WalMart exclusive on PitBoss's website. I have the 820 and it's treated me great, I just wish it was bigger, so this is promising.

I'd at least be interested in checking out the build quality, compared to a Camp Chef, for example.

I would be wary if it says a Walmart exclusive. They tend to have manufacturers build to a glitziness and price point, but not for longevity. Here is an illustration.

Yup. Every name brand item is specced by Wlamrt to meet a certain price point. That is often accomplished by sacrificing quality (see Levis' jeans sold at Walmart vs. those sold at Macy's, for example).

This of course does not mean it can't be a great deal on a good cooker. Just that I'd look closely at the materials and construction.

Pitboss is made by the same parent company as Louisiana Grills, Danson. Its def a reputable company from Canada. But im sure they had to make some concessions for this size and price point.

They have a very large ceramic grill for about $600.00 that most other companies charge about $2000.00

Could be a winner.

The buying power of Walmart is so huge that, very often, they can offer merchandise that is top notch at a price point that can't be matched. It will be interesting to see what reports we get from some of our guys who inspect it.

Due to the great influx of interest in recent years, we are now entering a new phase in BBQ. Attracted by growing potential sales, large suppliers will change the complexion of products and prices. This fends well for consumers who can only benefit from the advances to come in technology, variety, and value. Many of the names we know, will either be gobbled up by new players, or fad away.

Swung by my local Walmart today. They had 3 in stock. Associate told me it would be several weeks before they started setting up their display models and couldn’t guarantee that the Pit Boss would be one of their displays. I really want to see one of these bad boys.

The amazing ribs review of the 820 sort of scared me away from these pit boss grills. Despite giving it a bronze award there were a lot of wonky things about it.
