New Member, but not new to Q
Finally signed up around here, I've been a member of another popular BBQ forum for a few years now but a thread on BBQ-Brethren about stick burners caught my attention so I signed up.
I've been interested in BBQ forever, started out on an 18" Weber kettle, then moved to a DynaGlo vertical smoker once I had a back yard. Modded that quite a bit to get it to perform well and I've always gotten good food from it. One day my wife saw an old OK Joe on the side of the road, rusty and in need of a few repairs, we loaded it up and I became obsessed with stick burners. Picked me up a Grilla OG for those rainy/snowy/windy days when I don't want to tend the fire but still want some smoked food. We BBQ or grill something weekly at least, and 3-4 times a week when the weather is good! Came here with an interest to learn about stick burning (always trying to get better at fire management, what size splits to use, wood flavors to stock up on etc) and pellets (Pellet grill doesn't give much flavor so exploring stronger woods like mesquite and hickory to get that flavor back), but also love to borrow recipes and learn the fine art of charcoal grilling. Some day I'd love to upgrade my stick burner to an Old Country Brazos or Horizon and round out my collection with a Komado Grill. |
