Mason Dixon Bowhunta
is one Smokin' Farker
I got inspired by JermoQ's fruit laden fatties and decided to try to build my version of the apple fatty. I started with a regular Jimmy Dean sausage and added a granny smith apple that I had chopped and sauteed until tender. I had a jar of apple butter in the fridge so I added 3 heaping TBS to the mix
Formed the sausage mixture back into a roll and topped it with some McCormick apple rub and Dirty Dalmation Bark Builder
Onto the Highland reverse flow along with some chickens and a brisket
When the fatty was almost ready, I made some apple gravy using another Granny Smith, apple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon and corn starch
Sliced up the fatty. It was super moist from the apples and smelled awesome
Piled the fatty on a biscuit and topped it with the sauteed apples
Holy crap this thing was good! The chopped apples and apple butter paired nicely with the sausage and the apple gravy put it over the top. Will definitely be doing some more fruit infused fattys.
Thanks for looking!
