![]() I've seen lots of appreciation threads for different cookers but I couldn't find one for the PBC so I decided to start one. I was thinking we could post different cooks, setups, mods (heaven forbid!), new ideas, or anything that pertains to the Pit Barrel Cooker. This will hopefully be a place where those who have one can freely brag and those looking to purchase one can get information.
I just bought mine and even though its easy to cook on I still feel like I have a lot to learn. Plus I'd like to do a few things like add a pan below the coal grate to catch ash so I don't have to dump the cooker after a cook. Any ideas?? If so post them here. If you have questions, ask. Did anything different to your PBC, lets see it! That's what this thread is all about.....PBC! NOTE: I love joking around and jokes are welcome, but if you don't have a PBC, please don't post negative information such as "you paid too much", "you should have built a UDS cheaper", "I can build a replica for $30", ect. I'm hoping this will provide valid information for those who are actually interested. Here's a couple pics of mine to start things off. Have fun folks! ![]() ![]() ![]() Mods, if I overlooked a similar PBC thread, please delete or merge this one. Thanks!

![]() Yes I agree. Actually his thread gave me the idea because it was kind of turning into an appreciation thread somewhat. But the original reason he posted it and the title may not catch some people, especially the new ones. Plus there were too many posts arguing over the price. I just figured a thread primarily for the things I mentioned would be good. If the mods wanna figure a way to merge them I'm good with that.

![]() Nice idea Bob. I've been thinking of ways to put wheels on the horseshoe stand to make it easier to move around. It's light enough as it is to move but wheels sure would make it easier.
![]() You should get a few pics of that shiny new one you just bought for this thread...

![]() For catching ash, I bought an 18" pizza tray, notched the edge for the three PBC grill grate tabs and attached three strands of small chain to the edge, the three meeting on a keyring. I just lift the coal basket out and then lift the keyring, bringing all the ash out in an easy to empty tray. Total cost = less than 5$. Others have attached their pizza tray to the coal basket itself.

![]() Also, despite some claiming that the PBC is a niche cooker (chicken gets mentioned a lot, and rightly so), I have cooked a bunch of different things on it:
Chicken Pork ribs - spares, loin backs, baby backs and St. Louis Beef ribs Pork butt Pork picnic (shoulder) Brisket Tri tip Sausage Fatties ABTs Meatloaf Fish Whole turkey Baked Mac and Cheese Baked beans I even hang my ABTs! ![]()
