Grape doesn't change the flavor of the sauce as much as you might think it would.

Misting with apple juice gives a great sheen to any meat with or without sauce, after your sauce has set mist a couple times with apple juice.

Sunsweet pitted prunes. Old chili trick to add a gloss. There is debate whether to add at the beginning or end of the cook. I drop 1 or 2 in with about 30 mins left during my sauce simmer. Don't leave them in more than 45 minutes to an hour as they can pop. I can honestly say I notice a difference in the sheen.

I'm for the spritz of AJ. Make sure that your spray bottle puts out a very fine mist and hit it just before you close the box.

I cut my red sauce with some agave/honey 70/30 ratio. When drying after saucing the sweet of honey disappeared. Apple juice at the last moment.

Butter is used in most kitchens to add shine to a sauce. A tsp or Tbsp is usually enough.

Lite corn syrup has very little taste to it. There is also light agave nectar that is not really too sweet either.

Think of how shiny that General Tso's chicken was you ate last night.

Don't know if cornstarch gives much shine, but arrowroot will add lot. It will also thicken, and has NO flavor change. Use a little ( start with a tsp), mixed in a small amount of water, to add shine with no noticeable thickening.
