Injecting a Brisket: Blessing, Blasphemy , or Just Totally Unnecessary?a

Injection just helps to flavor the meat...nothing more, nothing less. I've had briskets cooked perfectly, but the slices of the flat were bland. Perfect bend test, perfect pull test, perfect probe test, but just not much flavor. Injection solves that problem and flavors the meat so each bite is full of flavor.

Injection provides the same function as a rub or seasoning in that it's just there to add flavor to the meat.

Here's a simple injection for brisket which works well :
-2 Tablespoons "Better Than Beef Bullion"
-2 Tablespoons Worcestershire
-2 cups of water

Heat in small pot (or microwave) until the bullion is dissolved. Taste the injection and add salt or water if needed. Understand that this is an "internal marinade" so it needs to be quite strong (in terms of flavor) to actually flavor the meat since it will be ejected by the meat during the cooking process.

I ran a BBQ food truck for about 3 years, and brisket was always a hit with my customers. The injection really helped to ensure the brisket was full of flavor throughout rather than just the exterior.
