Trust me, if you're normal you'll probably change your mind a lot. I've been waiting what seems like forever (not really) but a couple weeks ago I got the gold ticket and mine is being built right now. The first thing I did when Tyler sent me an email to finalize was to almost panic!!! I did finalize my smoker build and am waiting on the smoker of my dreams. Just to let you know, I started wanting a straightback cabinet/warmer on wagon wheels. My final order is a traditional modified trailer/warmer. I cant wait, Tyler said it may get to paint this week.

Waiting for a cooker from master pit builders like SF, Moberg, or Jambo is absolutely worth it IMO. 2 years is a small wait to have lifetimes of enjoyment from a top notch smoker.

I literally hate to tell people how long the wait is.. but like I said it ain’t for everybody but for some it is the ticket.... some people have to wait and save money to get the smoker of their dreams the wait enables them to do that.. as far as my part goes I accept responsibility for my backlog.... I was going to take smaller builds at least that was my plan pfff those plans went out the door.... I’m fixing to start 3 very large builds.... like I said I went public a couple days ago that I will not be taking anymore orders.... you can not imagine how great it will feel to be totally caught up and work as I want to... it will be nice
To see a post where someone wants a cooker and if I so choose I can say hey... I can have it for you in 3 weeks.... I’ve worked my backside off for the last 2 years I hope throttling down does not make my body go into shock......

You are absolutely correct. My wait was only 14 months when I picked mine up last November and you would have to pry my cold dead hands off it to get it away from me. I have been cooking que for over 43 years on every type of pit imaginable and the Shirley is right there with the best I have cooked on and well worth the wait.

I love my SF smoker. I hated the wait but if at some point they'd have called and said "hey we hired some dudes and you're gonna get your smoker real quick" I'd be worried that I wasn't getting the quality build I expected.

I’d feel the same way. I like that the owner is building my pit.

A lot of good posts here. I know what im getting into, thats why I dont mind the wait. In fact it is because of the wait time that I did reconsider and decide to spend a touch more. I talked (emailed with) Tyler today and agreed to go with a trailer model instead of patio. Im confident now that my order is complete. I dont expect any more changes. I dont feel bad about a minor change especially considering my deposit check is still in route vie snail mail.
Happy to hear SF is doing so well, glad that Paul is taking some earned time back, and proud to wait and pay for Tyler and team's work.

I agree completely! I’m on the list too and ok with the wait for what I consider to be just what I want!

I've been on the waiting list for almost a year. I have like 8 months to go. I started out with a 24x42 patio model in mind. I barely had the money for the deposit. My wife said that I should be able to save up enough in 20 months. Since then I got laid off from my job, but I got a hefty severance. I got a new job two weeks later which so now I'm looking at a 24x60 trailer. I got another job offer with more money now so there may be more changes to come before my final build. The wait is killing me but I think it's worth it.

Change orders don’t really bother me. Say a guy ordered a backyard model, but then changed it to a 500 gallon at the time of build. Well if he ordered the 500 gallon on day one I’d still be waiting just as long so no big deal.

**Remind me to read this a year from now when I’m cursing that I don’t have my Moberg. **
