Bob, out of curiosity, how long do YOU soak your wood chips? Do you smoke them before you soak, or soak, then smoke? Just asking for a friend.

I rarley soak chips, pellets however that is another story
I may start soaking wood chips after I build my UDS.

If you have ever seen the "wood" that is used to make wood chips at the saw yard where smoking wood, chunks and chips are made, you would have the same opinion as I do. I won't name the well known and popular producer, but I did see the brush they were running through the chipper. The biggest diameter of any stick going through the chipper I saw that day was no bigger than two inches. Not much heartwood in a two inch diameter stick. Lots of outer and inner bark though. If you are cooking in a small cooker, you want better quality of wood and chips aren't it.
