I've seen a couple of quick discussions on this, but nothing start to finish. I'm relatively new to smoking, but my little bullet smoker is a bear for holding temps and I'm thinking building a UDS may be the way to go for me.

What are the pros and cons? Different designs?

Thanks!

It doesn't look too difficult. Toughest part appears to be fabricating the ashpan, etc...

Appreciate the input and I'll post pictures if I do it.

Remember to make notes as you read through of your ... they will be answered further along n the thread.

My first suggestion would be go through these two threads.

A UDS is not hard to build and great to cook on. Hopefully we will have another drumhead joining the drumhead nation soon.

What he said.

The first thead is, IMHO, the definitive "how to" guide for building a UDS. the second thread is long and sometimes wanders a bit but is a great read and discusses a lot of options and pros and cons of said options.

Happy Building.
