She uses Pioneer Woman’s as a base with a few twists, I’ll ask for you.

We still have plenty of the parents/grand parents that like the traditional so at our in laws we roll pretty traditional even though I'd be happy to do anything and everything. I do have my nephews smoking their first Turkey tomorrow.

At our place we do Turkey if family are over but also some other non Thanksgiving meat. No one ever complains either way.

It's just my wife and I this year so she is more or less giving me the day off. We are doing Pie Pie, that's homemade pizza pies and pumpkin pie. I made the Pumpkin pie today and tomorrow I'll whip up some homemade pizza dough and do a couple of pizzas in the oven.

Traditional Thanksgiving. But not Christmas. We are deciding between TexMex, BBQ, and Finger Foods at the moment for Christmas. We have done Mexican, hamburger and hot dogs, surf and turf, mexican, German, cajun, finger foods, and deep south in the past

Smitty! Dang, Fried Catfish fillets would be the way to go with the nice catches you've been having!

She, but thanks for the agreement. Thanksgiving is a US tradition. It needs to be treated as such. All these modifications are ruining tradition, and i am 100% against it.

Around 2 PM EST I shall be thankful for a big hunk of smoked prime rib at the Weber Grill in Indy and their amazing citrus beets. I shall also be thankful I do not have to eat turkey.

I'd prefer the tradition to mean truly focusing on the abundant blessings in our lives.

Traditional has taken on a new meaning in my life the past 4 years, and my waist line has expanded accordingly.

We are having:

2 smoked turkey breasts (we wouldn't have any, but Lolo (grandpa) likes my smoked turkey and he rarely eats American food even after living here over 50 years)
1 ham (my new family has a more pork centric focus than anything else. Beef, turkey, are harder to come by in the Philippines)
Mashed potatoes
Bacon wrapped water chestnuts
Stuffing
Filipino BBQ (they're pork sticks, I actually am in charge of these now as they "taste like home" from the elders http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...&postcount=108 )
Lumpia (what an American raised on cantonese american chinese food would call a mini egg roll)
White rice
Beefstik (sounds like it would be beef on a stick like the Filipino BBQ above, but it s a braised for a very long time beef dish, prolly because the beef there is a water buffalo work animal)
Mango cake
Pumpkin and French Silk from Baker's Square (for the whitey's)

There are many crossovers between Mexican Thanksgiving and Filipino Thanksgiving as they were both conquered by the Spaniards and it is their traditions that are being brought forward, but with local ingredients.

Empanada's are an example. Same word, similar construction, but a totally different food because the available ingredients are different.

Thats enough spouting from me.

Happy and safe holiday to you all!

We're having a shrimp scampi pasta dish with some baked scallops on the side, and some potstickers.

Default Who is doing Non Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner?

Does a wild turkey breast, quail and duck roll-ups count as non- traditional? Oops almost forgot - deer chili.

I admit that I had brisket on the brain and smoked that. My wife handled the sides and they were not exactly traditional, nor bbq sides either.

My daughter insisted there be some turkey so I threw a half breast on when I wrapped the brisket.

I thought the turkey came out nice, but no one besides my daughter tried it.
