Default BGE Gasket

Anyone running without top gasket on BGE. How does it affect performance?

I am and it doesn't hurt the performance at all. No difference.

I have never had a top gasket. Just a nomex one on bottom. I can run for 18 hours on about 8lbs of charcoal. Then I can close the dampers and have the fire out within about 30 mins. So I can't compare to having a top gasket, but it works fine without.

Mine are so worn out, there can't be more than 10% of the original thickness left. Maybe I'll do a replacement this summer.
