Talking Fall Fell Early...

... at the house of thirdeye after the second wave of yesterday's storm. The good news is it's 40° today and the weekend will see 50°'s. Here is my drum, two Eggs and a SNS kettle chillin' out.

On the positive side this storm knocked down some of our active fires and will build up the snow pack. On the negative side thousands of truckers were backed up as around 800 miles of highways were closed.

Your BGE’s are morphing into a real eggs!

If that’s fall, what does winter look like?

Gotta take the good with the bad. Better to have knocked down some of the fires and build up the snow back. It's a PITA for the truckers but they'll hit the roads again soon.

I know we need every little bit here.

Same spot on my patio last year with about 24" on the ground.

My driveway was in shock, you can see the top of a yardstick sticking out of the drift.

This was downtown Cheyenne during a similar storm.

And sometimes it's the cold that is worst.... when the °F and °C are close to each other.... it's cold.

I remember those days when I lived in Maine!

BGE is a good choice with those temps!

Living near Buffalo we are used to snow too, but this storm 15 years ago in October totally surprised everyone! Luckily the temps came up in the following days and the plows were out, but no power for 5 days.

It knocked down so many trees because they still had most of their leaves. This was my road.

I don’t know if it was the same storm as I think ours was a little less than 15 ago and my memory is that it came up the coast but same situation — 22” of wet snow on trees that hadn’t dropped the leaves yet. Took them down everywhere. We were out 9 days and were really lucky that we were at least able to get a path out after the first couple.

This year (so far) has been the opposite. It’s finally supposed to drop back to normal after Saturday but it’s been quite warm and we still haven’t had a frost.

Those pics and scenery are nice to look at, but I'm sure it gets tiresome and annoying if it happens too often and wreaks havoc.
