Default Gyros on the Trompo King!

So last week, while I was couch bound a local grilling buddy stopped by with a get well gift.

The Trompo King!

I’ve been wanting one of these since they were introduced not all that long ago.

Today was the first day I was able to get a little cooking in, so I loaded it up with marinated Lamb and Beef that I had sliced.

Cooked on the Weber with charcoal and a split of cherry.

Time for a shave

Time for another shave

My wife had it over a Greek salad with feta.

It was tremendous.

Lord have mercy! You gotta stop! I know it's a sin but, I'd give that a wrap in some foil for a few minutes to steam the pita a little and then find something to hide behind, look this way and that (make sure no ones seen me), unwrap it, and crush on that thing, wipe my hands on the grass and come back for another!

Neat!
I've seen the concept from the Cubans for years, but just recently heard of the Trompo units.
Do you think if would be better on the smoker instead of the grill to avoid the burnt mess in the bottom? Or at least more indirect? Or does that not matter?
