Campdude and I have been cooking chitloads of hotdogs for a Mother's Day even for 5 years. It's always fun to hang out/catch up with Marty and feed tons of folks. My lovely wife and kids help out (one was out with a cold this year, so he got to wash everything at home after the event) and a couple friends stopped by to help. We had a great time and managed to feast on some home made sausage as well as beef cheek tacos (just started making corn tortillas - do that!).

This year we cooked close to 1300 hotdogs. In the past we've been using a WSM, BW Chubby, and a Jumbo Old Smokey. Last year we brought a Ranch Kettle to replace the Old Smokey and this year we just went with the RK and a 26" Weber. Another thing we did different this year was simmer/boil the hotdogs first then just ran 'em across the grill for a few minutes to finish. This seems to have led to a better result and we were definitely able to be more in tune with the ebbs and flows of the crowd.

(I think I got grease or steam or something on my lens...)

Threads from years past - I don't think I did one for year 3. Lots of broken pix links but some pix still show up:

Always a fun day hanging out with you, Greg. I got a few pics. Wish I had taken more, but manning the RK was full time. Those sausages and tacos were amazing.
Waiting for the wieners.

Simmering first was a big help.

A better pic of the cookies. Any guesses as to what they were supposed to be?

The steam and grease was on my glasses not my phone. To me, the whole day looked like your pics!

Great job once again guys! Really nice of you to do this again this year!!:thumb:

For lunch we had beef cheek tacos made from the recipe on yer blog - so dang good!

& speaking of yer blog, my son wants to raise chickens so I sent him yer way.

Thanks for the kind words y'all!

1300 dogs! Wow... that would take some time. I bet it’s so much fun though.

Are those cookies supposed to be lollipop cookies or some kind?

^^^not sure, maybe microphones? everybody's mind pretty much immediately went to the same place on those.

Greg, that's great! Both the beef cheeks and your son's interest in chickens. Hope you get a few hens! :-D Thanks...
