Texas BBQ in Florida gulf coast?

Spent the last two months along the Gulf coast of Florida between Venice and Tampa.

This State has ZERO clue what good BBQ is. Zero, nada, zippo.The best I found was not even on par with Rudy's. They have no clue, it's crazy. I was thinking "I should move here and open a joint. Theres no competition". Maybe they just don't "get it", I dont know.

Any half decent place in the Tampa area? Or even in north Florida? Im curious what "the best" actually is in Florida.

We've never found any. But when we go there it's seafood for us.

This isn't necessarily Texas BBQ, but check out Dr. BBQ, The Restaurant in St. Pete.

Dr. BBQ, Ray Lampe, is a great pitmaster and has been cooking BBQ for longer than some of us have been alive
