Default Best price i ever payed for Brisket.

So, I go to my local grocery and they have choice brisket on sale for $1.99/lb (normally $5.99/lb) regardless of how overpriced it usually is, $1.99/lb is a steal in my area. Anyway, so I grab one, take it to self checkout, realize there is no barcode to scan, only a product code. Now keep in mind this is a 18lb brisket. So the person tending to the self checkouts punches in the product code and walks away. But now it wants me to put the brisket on the scale. Well i tried my best, but those scales are way too small.

I did the math, i payed roughly $1.50/lb.

Anyway, just thought i would share the story since this one is up there with my 50 cents /lb snow crab legs.

I miss the $0.99/lb selects of around 8 years ago. I even got a few at $0.79/lb I remember.

That’s a good price! I get excited when they’re less than $3/pound. Best deal I ever got was 2 packs of obviously prime ribeyes labeled as stuffed bell peppers in the bottom of a meat cooler. I’m pretty sure some employee was trying to pull a fast one, so I helped them not make an immoral decision.

Used to make those rounds with a buddy... Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day meat sales, could get whole cryo'd briskets for between $0.79 and $0.99 per pound, sometimes there would be a limit (usually 2) - he'd buy 2, I'd buy 2, take them to the car (his Ford Explorer loaded with coolers) toss them in, head to the next store, rinse and repeat until the coolers were full. Go home, unload, maybe do it again later that day or the next.

I sometimes would end up with 12 Briskets in my freezer at times, but when we would smoke, we would smoke...

This was the rig... (hope the picture is there)

Been a while since I seen those prices. 2014 to be exact. I think they were $1.77.

Around me Walmart has both select and choice in the bins at the same price. Not always though. HEB won't price match Walmart's brisket for that reason.
