I'm at work at the moment but I'll try it out this weekend
No tell your boss I said you can leave for the day cause you got important research to conduct.

A cheap one actually can warp, but not a good one like a Weber... they can get stupid hot depending on the fuel and how much. I've got mine down to a science now but it'll take some experimenting on your part. For some cooks I use my holy pizza diffuser pan over top the basket...GREAT for wings! Slow cook a little on the outside then hot cook middle
Yes the 22.5 charcoal is that size but no worries with a good cooking grate...believe me mine has been put through the paces. The coal grate just seems more sturdy too. I think it's thicker metal. If I'm not mistaken the coal grate on the 22.5 weber is about 18.5 inches.....
I'll check when I get home. Not sure when that'll be, I've gotta go demanded to go home and do some research but my boss isn't buying it. ...:biggrin1:
I just figured out that if after you complete your smoking and you want do some fast grilling of steaks, burgers or veggies you have an option with the PBC. All you need to do is pick up an extra 18 in grate, place the fire basket on the main grate, and place the additional grate on top of the rebar. I have not done any grilling yet that way, but it seems like it would work fairly well. Thoughts?
EDIT:Might also work well for reverse sear of things like a tri tip.
Good job brother Bob...the UDS community would be proud!
It's nice having versatile cookers which is why anytime i make or by a cooker it's designed to smoke grill and sear.... and recently the last year added the hanging capacity on 2 of them.
Noah actually markets the PBC as a versatile cooker. From hangin, to smoking on the grill grates, all kinds of meats, searing and grilling and even cooking pizzas.
Marketing is one thing but it's no jimmy! Lol
The PB really isn't designed to do all those things well but no reason you can't make improvements. WSM owners make all kinds of mods to their cookers.
Thoey for an example has done some good ones.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that you are kind of fond of your Jimmy and think it's a good cooker? Just checking. :-o
I'm not sure why posters have to come in to an "appreciation" thread for a particular cooker and go negative. There is another thread with all of that on Page 1 of QTalk right now. I don't go into threads about BBQ sauces and preach that dry rub is the way to go. I leave that thread for those who like sauce. But ... it's not _my_ internet, so whatever.
Any PBC brothers doing some PB cooking this weekend?
Unfortunately, I won't be. But next weekend it'll be 3 racks of full spares. First time to do full untrimmed spares in the PBC.
