Default Brisket injection recommendations

Hey about to have to cook a brisket for the first time in competition. I know there are several brisket injections out. Looking for recommendations on what is really good. I have seen the Kosmos one in person at a local store. Thanks for the help.

I figured there would be tons of answers by this morning. So here goes, before 2009 I only injected with an Au Jus style of beefy broth a tick heavy on the salt with injecting raw brisket, and less salty when late injecting when wrapping.

In 2010 or 2011 I took a competition cooking class and had tested out Fab-B and Fab-B Lite. Since the class I've tested Butchers, Kosmo's Reserve, and Big Poppa Cattle Prod with a variety of base liquids. My favorite is a mixture of Kosmo's and Cattle Prod mixed with water + a tablespoon of Worcestershire and a 1/4 cup of Minor's AuJus (to taste).

PS - I also use Kosmo's + Cattle Prod as a steak marinade.

I've only competed once so my opinion probably doesn't matter that much on how it'd related to scoring, but I also did the CBJ deal, and cook a lot of brisket. My most commonly used injection for eating barbecue is the Myron Mixon 1:1 Minor's Beef Base and Au Jus concentrated pastes + water. Of the more competition oriented powdered injections I've tried, which are Butchers, then Kosmos Original Beef and Kosmos Reserve Blend, I liked the results from the Reserve Blend the best, but they were all pretty good for that style of injection....I dont have a fancy palette. I see Cattle Prod recommended quite a bit so I'll probably try that one at some point.

Joedy, I use Butcher BBQ's Prime Injection. Injection may or may not be for you, but its definitely worth trying. Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies. Will definitely have to check into these listed. We already use Minor's on our pork and Butchers on our chicken. So those 2 and the others listed will definitely be tested. Thanks again.

We use butchers but kosmos and cattle prod are good products too.

main thing is to inject with something with salt and phosphates if you are going to stand a chance
