I had some quality time driving with KCquer and Bigdog from STL to Greg's bash and back last year. He will be sorely missed. We talked alot but I didn't know anything about any health problems. Maybe I was grappling too much with my own.
Anyway, I was really hoping to tip a cold one with him this year at Gregs since I finally can again (but only 1 per week) Yesterday my Dr. said I have reached the goal of 6 months without any detectable Hep C virus. In honor of KCquer, I'll abstain till we can all tip one to him at Gregs. PS: As the only sober person at Greg's last bash, I remember the turtle incident differently. Chicago Bill just called to let me know. I am heart broken.
Scott always took time to help anyone who had an issue no matter how small. What a heart he had for what we love to do. My prayers are with the family. Will see you on the other side my friend. Mikeg Selma AL |

Bill (WillKat) and I were talking last night about how Scott reached us each in differant ways. He was the person I turned to when I was so mad at people here. When you all would start on a rant. He would tell me to drink a beer and go fish it would be okay. When work was getting me down he would tell me to drink a beer and go fish it would be okay. He would call and ask how much somthing would cost I would have to tell him to drink a beer and to go fishing.
Scott was that little brother I never had. I'm just sorry that I put off calling him for the last month. I kept telling myself I was just too busy, I can never make it up to him. I well folks I will never too busy again. Scott, I love you Bro

I don't know what to say. I didn't know Scott personally.....but I knew him. I knew him through all his posts that I've read and all the stories told about him. He was one of the good and very knowledgable brethren and will be sorely missed.
His family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I didnt see this specific item mentioned, but over and over in this thread I am reading how much Scott affected peoples lives by giving out sage advice.
I deal with adversity with humor. I would use humor with Scott too, in PM, IM, and phone calls, when he was going through a rough time. So I just stumbled across one of lifes little ironies. Scott's final post on the forum was helping people out, offering up timely and sage advice. So Scott, I find it ironic that it was This Thread that you chose to share your final words of wisdom. Scott left us just hours after this post, but I am glad he posted in Wood Pile last, for thats what he helped make this place fun to come to. Take care e

Whenever my life is impacted by the loss of a friend...
...I think of this poem my Grandma read to me years ago:
I'll Lend You A Child by Edgar Guest "I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine," He said. For you to love - while he lives And mourn for when he's dead. It may be six or seven years Or twenty-two or three, But will you, till I call him back, Take care or him for Me? He'll bring his smiles to gladden you, And should this stay be brief You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, Since all from earth return, But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked this world over In search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd Life's lanes, I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love, Nor count the labor vain, Nor hate Me when I come to call to Take him back again?" I fancied that I heard then say, "Dear Lord, Thy will be done, For all the joy Thy child shall bring, The risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, We'll love him while we may, And for the happiness we've known Forever grateful stay. But should the angels call for him Much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that come And try to understand."
