Wheres the best place to get some Japanese wagyu? I want to treat myself in celebration of going back to work full time after this covid crap. I've been looking at Crowd Cow and a few others, but I don't know who is the most reputable while still being a little affordable.
 
I know a few years back anyway that the only place to get authentic Japanese Wagyu was at Costco. I don't know if that is still the case. There are many places to get "American Wagyu." There were a few things at Costco, for instance:

There are a lot of different grades of Wagyu and YMMV. The above did not look nearly as marbled as what I'd seen in grocery stores in Japan, but I think what I saw in Japan would not get sold here as it had astronomical percentages of fat, similar to this:

As far as being reputable, I buy from Crowd Cow regularly, and have never had a problem. They do have Japanese Waygu - I recently got a Kagoshima A5 tenderloin and it was delicious.
