I'm looking for homemade rubs for ribs. Watcha got?
It is hard here to buy commercial rubs. They are hard to find and very expensive. Does anyone have a homemade rub that works good on ribs?
Thanks |

My go to on pretty much everything is salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a little ancho chili powder, a touch of brown sugar goes good with ribs. Nothing fancy, and you can get this stuff anywhere.

I apply a good coating of Plowboy's Yardbird (commercial, high-salt, spicy rub) for my 6-hour dry-brine, then add a light coating of Meathead's Memphis Dust (homemade, no-salt rub) just before hanging in the smoker. It produces killer bark. You can find a recipe for Meathead's Memphis Dust online (I leave out the rosemary). Last edited by TBoneMac; 09-21-2021 at 12:49 PM.. |

Welcome to the forum, I was to and from Clark many times 73 through 75.
Here are some Brethren Posts that might be of some help to you. ================================================== Pyle's BBQ Rib Rub http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...0&postcount=13 2 cups Brown sugar 1/2 cup Kosher salt 1/2 cup black pepper 1/4 cup ground mustard 1/4 cup granulated garlic 1/4 cup chili powder Also sometimes I add a little bit of red pepper flakes if I want to add some heat Add or subtract to your taste. This is a base recipe that is easy to modify. You could add some paprika to get more color on your ribs. ================================================== Shadowdog500 Rub http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...9&postcount=14 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup paprika 1 tablespoon garlic powder 1 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 tablespoon kosher salt 1 tablespoon black pepper 1 teaspoon(OR LESS) cayenne pepper ================================================== Cliffcarter's Rib Rub http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...29&postcount=4 1/2 cup of turbinado sugar 1/4 cup of Hungarian paprika 1/4 cup of salt free chili powder 2 TBS of granulated garlic 2 TBS of ground black pepper 2TBS of cinnamon 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper |

Kosher salt
Paprika Granulated Garlic Granulated Onion Black Pepper Chili Powder Dry Mustard Cayenne White Pepper I just eyeball the amounts anymore. I know that's not so helpful. But the ratio is in order.

This is a good basic rub, great on ribs. I put in some finely ground red pepper flakes. |
