Tried Opa's Brauts this evening

Great posts, IMM and sleebus. I tend to agree that an authentic German Bratwurst is similar to what you might consider a Weisswurst (typically a high inclusion of veal in the mix). Pretty much the only store bought variety that I find to my liking is Boar's Head Bratwurst. Notice the ingredients. It is definitely not a typical Americanized "griller brat." In fact, I don't even like them to be "touched by flame." Since the are pre-cooked, I typically just warm them up in a skillet on low heat with water.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is what's on the package may not align with what you thought you were buying.

Did you get something like this? This is also a "bratwurst".

Agree 100% I got a gift from then new Son in law. with that nasty stuff.


When I was in Germany in 77, I can tell what a true Brats is and this was not that.
