Hey y'all.

I'm Randall AKA 'Thedge', my handle here in the forum(s). Am new and will be lurking around for awhile, learning the ways.

Just finished my first UDS and have used it a bit, prolly a hundred pounds
of hardwood chunk charcoal. Ribs, beef slabs, burgers, chickens, sausage,
dogs... even tried out one of the recipes for smoked eggs.

Really improved my ribs with your 3 - 2 - 1 rule. Thanks !

Have a question. How do you (easily) remove the smoke coating from the racks, thermometers etc.? Have all the grungy bits soaking in hot, soapy water but it doesn't seem to be making a dent in the sludge.

Back to the shadows,

Thedge

Welcome to the Brethren. This is a great forum and these guys are great. But I can't answer your question because I don't really clean the smoke off of my racks. I will occasionally use a wad of aluminum foil to clean the racks of sauce, fat, and such, but other than that...

Welocme to the asylum, Randall!

Have you tried oven cleaner on the racks? I've sprayed mine with oven cleaner, put them into a plastic garbage bag and let them sit overnight.

Also, one of our members sells a product that is designed to clean grates, probes, etc. that works well...

Great to have you here, sir!. Dawn (of dishwashing and animal rescue fame) has a grill cleaner you might try.
