theres alot of walmarts in my area, at least 13 within an hour drive. barrel houses cookers are down to limited stock at most stores and nearly full price. there are over 40 pit boss copperheads in the area. only 2 at $199, the rest are full price still.
I found myself back looking this morning.
Haven't taken the kettle out of the box yet. I find myself thinking the kettle I wanted the grates for is looking kind of ragged, and how the one touch would look mounted in the table instead. It has the ash catcher and everything. And one touch's really do cook chicken better, with the larger vents for higher temps.

I justified both pit boss' and the bhc as trial purchases. after playing with them for a few months I can sell them off for what I have into them. I really like the barrel for its fuel mileage. the pit boss classic I treat like a gas grill and use for convenience.

my goal for the summer is to dump the ok joe and akorn.

I'd been watching the Akorn price, waiting for it to drop below $100.00. While I was waiting, I searched threads and ran across posts about it filling with water when it rains, and the need for a diffuser. So that meant that a cover and a stone or coal grate and pizza pan were needed. Covers on my patio act as sails. Then there is the CI grate and intake issues.

So I went looking for new kettle grates.
Some of those Lodge pieces look nice...
None around me.

I didn't know your zip code, so I randomly chose 76114 for Ft. Worth.
Unfortunately, that ended up being my second Brickseek wild goose chase. I've got the day off, so I figured I'd drive out there. Nope, looked all over the store, and they didn't have any. Same thing at a different Walmart I went to a couple weeks ago.

The Lodge Sportsman grill is nice at $45. If I didn't already have one, I would pick one up at that price.

I've only grilled a few dogs on the Sportmans. Mostly used it for chargrilled oysters. For some reason it was just the right size and the right distance from the fire for the char.

2 stores near me show 2 left each. I was able to go to one of them- no dice. And I searched high and low in the mostly abandoned and in between seasons garden center.

Honestly, I was kind of relieved.

Fwiw, at one store, I found three inside the store in the garden center boxed and sitting on the shelf. At another store, I found 3 that were unboxed and assembled, standing in a "heard" of sorts with other outdoor cookers.

Also, be sure to try and look up in the rafters. Lots of the outdoor stuff was put on skids, that were plastic wrapped then put up high. They then bring the skids back down and are trying to unload last year's stuff as they reset for grilling season.

All that said, it's entirely possible that inventory counts are off for any number of reasons.

Other little tricks. If you have the Walmart App, open it, set "your store" to the one that supposedly has stock. At the BS page, find the link to "View on Walmart" and click it. It should open the Walmart app on your phone and tell you where the grill is located. Should even display it on a store map.

Additionally, on the BS page, there's a link to "view barcode". Pull that barcode up and try and find an employee with a hand held scanner (Not just a phone). I simply walk up and ask "Do you have the scanner thing that tells stock level and location" ? have them scan the barcode. The results page will tell what the computer lists for amount on hand to sell, and it might list it's bin location.

I awakened this morning with buyers remorse. It doesn’t happen often. I already own a Sportsman Hibachi-just have to dig it out and clean it up. I have more cast iron cook ware than I probably need. I’m keeping the expanding small cast iron 4$ and may try to fashion an elevated grate for the DC. May. United Amigos has beef back ribs for $1.47#. May trip out that way and grab some beef broth bones.

Dammit
