My Fatty Piston

LOL Ron!!! Is that my future husband? He looks pretty handy!

Thanks Redheart, SouthJersey, Adrian and Ron!

Adrian, if you roll the sausage out inside of a large baggie, it works great! Then cut the top off the baggie. :-D

I'm guessing that is a gallon baggie? is that one roll or 2 rolls of sausage? Without a piston, I always need 2 rolls to get enough sausage to prevent blowouts.

BTW, I like the angle on the bacon weave. It really adds to the presentation

I think in our circle this is considered to be very high quality porn!! That has me drooling!! LOOKS AMAZING!

That looks really great... I do have a question, though. The piston put a pretty thick filling down; is it a good filling to sausage ratio?

This has concerned me as well. I've considered making one with 1" pipe instead of 1 1/2"

I think the ratio is a personal preference. For those who like an overstuffed fattie, the piston allows you to make one easily. Rolling a fattie with a lot of filling can be frustrating. The piston makes it really easy and it keeps it uniform to minimize the chance of a blow out.

It also depends what you put in it. Personally, I think if you were to stuff a fattie with nothing but cheese and use a piston, you would have way too much cheese. But if you use stuffing like cowgirl did, with lots of other ingredients in it, it can be great.

The fattie piston isn’t for every fattie, and of course; there are some who feel fatties shouldn’t be stuffed. To each their own!

I have used smaller diameters of PVC and it is a great option.

Wow! Great look'n fatty. Definitely gives us something to shoot for: A perfect fatty!

The Fatty Piston is something I've got to make!! Or purchase it if it becomes available before I get around to make'n it...

Oh, thanks for the tip on the zip lock bag!

Dang jeanie, you never cease to amaze me! Tha's the purdiest fatty I have ever seen!!

Thanks for the tip on the baggie. I'll have to use one of those next time. I guess I'll also make a piston soon.

Just one more Jeanie-pron induced keyboard drool...

Thanks everybody and you're welcome for the baggie idea. It sure makes things easier.
I used 1 pound of sausage and a 1 gallon baggie.
I bet you could use 2 pounds of sausage and make it thicker. Grillinski is right, it all depends on the stuffing you are using and how thick you like your slice of sausage.
Sometimes I make a sauerkraut/apple stuffing...with this method that might be too much kraut for me.

The large piece of pipe has a 2" inside diameter, a 1 1/2 inch would be nice too.

I think having less cheese and more tatoes/onions and corned beef in the stuffing kept it from blowing out too.

Thanks again to Grillinski and for all the kind comments on my fatty. You're a sweet group of friends!

That's what I do jeanie... use 2 pounds of sausage in the gallon bag. Another thing I do is spray the inside of the baggie with spray veggie oil before installing the meat... it helps in sliding the meat out.

I can only say OMG :-D I have to wipe my chin now That looks perfect. A true master piece

After looking at those pics I am almost afraid to attempt a fattie. Maybe I should go review the pics of worst turn ins again.

This fatty piston changes everything, just imagine the food you could stuff in there! Mac and Cheese Fatty anyone?
