Default Smoked Beer Queso?

Anyone ever smoke their queso? I like the smoky taste I get from the mac and cheese and hoping it will translate with the queso. The recipe is actually a beer queso so I am wondering if adding a smoky element will be too much... It's for a work dip competition and unfortunately I do not have time to make a test batch before Tuesday.

I think it would be better to smoke the cheese, then make the queso. That or just add some smoked bacon or sausage to it. However you do it, I'm sure smoked queso would taste good.

More of a cheese dip made with chiles and sometimes with meat also used as a topping over nachos or mexican dishes, definitely good enough for soup but a bit rich.

There is certainly beer cheese soup if that’s what you searched. Beer queso would be using beer instead of milk, water, or chicken broth to create the cheese dip.
