Default So when is a Inventor going to Make a offset GF?

I could picture it in my head, how it could be done.. Anyone ever given it a thought? I could see it using the same method, of a rack in the fire box, above the ashes/wood where embers fall onto,, and then a stack going up and out of the firebox for charcoal loading. If i am thinking correctly, the GF is basically a offset chamber that burns wood as you insert it below in the box, so then in the offset itself. You could mix in wood/charcoal in it's GF shoot. I guess the big difference is, you only start a offset with charcoal.

Just thinking outloud here, on how maybe you could mod a offset to be GF.

The difference is that a GF is still a fairly sealed system to control the fire. GF depends on a slow smoldering fire which means controlled air intake.

Most horizontal offsets are not airtight and meant to draft and burn clean.

Seems you’d have to solve that too.

One of the guys in Michigan did this several years ago. It worked well. I don’t know if he still has it or not. Here is a picture I grabbed off of Facebook.
