Default Anybody tried the Ok Joe Bronco Drum Smoker.?

Has anybody tried it yet? got a few cooks on? it how does it do.? You like it.?

https://www.oklahomajoes.com/bronco-...8aAlqgEALw_wcB

There was a thread about a major flaw that ain’t- it’s minor. Tab for intake tube welded in wrong spot. Just drill new holes and plug other holes with bolts.......

I’d get one if it was a Clearance Deal......... It be a good little smoker to take out of town, to the lake etc...... it’s worth the Reg price but I could build a UDS Cheaper.

I don't have one but I looked at one at Academy and Walmart and it's built like a tank. Much thicker metal than a drum. I've watched most of the cooking videos on YT and most everyone that has one really likes it. For the price, I think it's a good deal.

According to their website, they are coming out with a bigger version in June.

So either that one will go up $200 or $300 in price, OR Smitty will get his deal, after they lower the price on the current one?

I just checked out the new model on the OJ website and it will retail on the site for $699. It's only 3.5" wider and about 5" taller. Not sure if the size difference is worth that much.

I checked one out two weeks ago at Lowe's & it's pretty nice from what I saw. I checked you tube this weekend & looked around for threads too & didn't see much except for what you found. Surprised there isn't more talk about this one.

I pretty impressed with it. Fairly thick steel. Has a nice smoking and grilling set up.

Yeah I would have to pass. You can get a pre drilled Big Poppa 55gal drum kit with drum for $400. Add shipping and you still have a bigger, proven cooker for less.

I have a charbroil kamander with the same intake and ash pan system that I grill and smoke on.

Bronco comes with everything you need including difusser plate, ash pan (intakes come in at top of ash pan just under charcoal grate), Good size charcoal basket and hanging system if you want to hang ribs or something. Has wheels so you can move easy. Should Need Zero Mods ( optional to put rtv between 2 halves when assembling - it will seal up after a cpl cooks) —assuming you don’t get one with the intake tube made upside down ( apparently a batch came out with tube made backwards) but that’s any easy fix - drill 2 holes. It’s also a lil heavier gauge than WSM - tho not porcelain paint - so should take transporting better. Won’t bend out of round or dent as easy. But a WSM can be broke down and transported in a Large trunk or back of a small SUV. Bronco you’d have to put in back of a pickup......... but I drive a pickup.......I could throw this in the back of the pick up standing up put a strap over it and done. Hauling a WSM in a pick up you have to make sure the 3 sections don’t come apart by wrapping straps around it (making sure you don’t go too tight and bend it out of round or crush it) and then strapping it into the truck.
I want a Bronco for going out of town or to the lake - I could build another UDS but I like the ash pan and intakes and dolley style wheels of the Bronco and I won’t get the Fire Dept. called on me (again) since I won’t have to burn out a liner to make a UDS.

I like the meat hanger system on this one.
With the intake up the side like that, is it to pre-heat the incoming air? Or just to get the control in a convenient place?

Oky Joe's have a lot of curb appeal to me. And a big variety.
