I have a trailer and a 500 gallon tank

What are your thoughts on having three pipes around 4" exiting the fire box going into the smoke chamber. Each pipe will have a damper, the chamber will have two stacks also with dampers. The inside of the chamber will have baffles so that if I want a reverse flow smoker I can if not I can open all dampers and go full steam.

Am I crazy or will this work?

Where's Jestridge? He's done these lots of times. Do some queries on Jestridge threads.

But yeah you're going to need a good firebox.

Ither will work fantastic. I built my first offset with a beer keg, with the pipe setup you are talking about. It had a 1/4" fireboc with a baffle between the box and chamber. The pipe works really well if you drill holes progressively larger as you get away from the firebox. Drill the holes in the sides of the pipe for escaping smoke.
