Congrats on the George Foreman! You might try to fabricate something like this out of sheet metal. I remember reading they used cardboard first to get the shape and then traced it on sheet metal and cut. This will aim the pellets down towards the center more.

or alternatively get a hopper extension, which will let you load more pellets on top and it will help the feeding.

I've never had an issue with it, but I know some people would wax the hopper walls with some sort of food grade lubricant.

My signature needs a update. The foreman was in 2007 after a nasty divorce....I'm thinking I will make a extension. The after market ones are overpriced. IMO

I had the same problem. One of the many reasons I 'retired' the traeger.

At the time the suggestion was to go to lowes/Home Depot and buy a pvc pipe a little larger diameter than your auger opening. Buy it as tall as you think you'll need. Position it over the auger opening and fill er up. Pellets dump right into the auger. You could theoretically buy one 3 feet tall.

I should have researched more before I bought it. I am trying to make a silk purse out of a Sow's Ear.

I saw these a while back and wish I had bought them the last time I had a tunnel.

My Yoder does something similar, but I've never seen it get to the point where gaps form at the auger. One reason, and what I think the best solution is, is that I never let the hopper get low. I know I can get over 9 hours of run time without running out of pellets if I fill the hopper to it's top. So I always fill it completely when I start a cook and check it every 6 to 7 hours. And if it's an overnight cook, I top the hopper off before I hit the sack. The sides of the Yoder hopper are angled towards the auger, so I'm sure that helps the pellets flow nicely.
