Just to clarify, the customer service person said not to bank lump or wood. She never said anything about charcoal briquettes.
 
T-Roy used it on a Performer, which was much more stable, which eliminated my biggest issue with it, the stress on the leg sockets.

The Gabby's Grill Santa Maria might be ideal on one of the 26" mini Ranch kettles. One of the things I like about a Santa Maria is being able to separate the coals below what you are cooking. The 26" would do a better job of that due to size.
 
First one took a day to wrangle up the steel, measuring, thinking, design and configure the rotisserie, drink some bourbon, smoke, drink some more bourbon...etc. On the second day I painted it up. I'm guessing overall, 9-10 hours for the first one.

The second and third ones were 5-6 hours each.

I made the verticals out of angle iron and left a gap between them so I could use it as my slide guide for the rotisseries adjustment.

Bought the pillow block bearings off Ebay.

Purchased the grate at WalMart, Home Depot has them too:

Using the pillow blocks is an interesting idea. My ability for bearing hole sizing sucks.
 
Bearings? Pfft-shoot a hole a tad larger than the shaft and move on. Not like you will be doing hundreds of rpms or anything. :-D

haha, I overbuild, had time, a few extra pennies, adds a little steampunk look, sometimes the basics are just too common for me
