Can I have some recommendations for rubs and sauces?

Porkmafia Memphis Mud is my fave on ribs. Simply Marvelous Peppered Cow is great on beef/steaks. SM Pecan is another good one. Can't go wrong with Oakridge, only one I personally don't care for is Dominator. Not a fan of the cinnamon. Sauces, Blues Hog Tennessee Red is a favorite as well as The Shedd Vinegar Sauce, I was rather surprised by that one. Found out the recently renamed it to Sweet & Tangy.

I know this is probably going against the grain, but I recommend making your own. I started with a basic rub recipe borrowed from a book and then just kept tweaking it to my.. err, my wife's taste. The rub also serves as a base for sauce. That being said, I like Stubb's

I do make my own rubs but I also like to try out brand rubs because to learn new spice combinations. And sometimes I'm just lazy :twisted:

Yardbird. I heard really good things on bbq right the AP, that's next on my list. SM Spicy Apple and Cherry are my go to for ribs and pulled pork. Sucklebusters SPG is my favorite for steaks and opening your nose up.

My house is a sweet baby rays house

Thanks for all the suggestions, this is what we brought home.
I tasted a bunch of sauces but nothing that peeked my interest.
They didn't have much Oakridge so I will have to order that online.

Tried the Plowboys yardbird on some chicken thighs yesterday and that was really good!

Nice choices!! Sweet and Spicy Sweet Baby Ray is probably my favorite heavily available sauce. I feel like you missed out on the Bob Gibson white and red sauces, two of my favorites.

Definitely buy some oakridge rubs. The SM taste fantastic on a spoon or sprinkled on as a finisher, but make sure you use some sort of base when cooking or the flavor will get lost.

My favorite rub for pork, ribs is Butchers Honey Rub.
For beef, I like McCormicks Montreal.
Chicken get Plowboys Yardbird.

For sauce....I am all in on Blues Hog Competitive mixed with their Tennessee red.

Plowboys Yardbird is fantastic on poultry and pork, just be aware that it has a lot of salt in it.

Funny that you say this because the salt content is not that high and I tasted a few rubs that were WAY more salty. I tried it on some chicken thighs on Sunday, liberally coated them and the outcome was delicious!

My go to sauce used to be Bone Suckin' Sauce. But they changed the recipe and it's no where near what it used to be. It's pretty much just a run of the mill molasses based sauce now.

For pork I am really liking Killer Hogs Vinegar and Blues Hog Tennessee Red Sauce:

I am going to try Blues Hog Original this weekend.

As for rubs, I use a lot of Dizzy Pig rubs. I generally use a Dizzy Dust base then enhance with another rub. Generally Jamaican Firewalk or Swamp Venom. Though I do like Byron's Butt Rub as well.

For Brisket I am going to be giving Oakridge Black OPS a shot next.

Looking at the map, I see you are about 45 minutes from the USAG Brussels Army Base. Looking through my list of contacts, none are stationed there any longer, or I'd send you a package through them.

Glad you found some good seasonings. I'm not envious of the prices you paid though

Stuff needs to be imported so that adds shipping, taxes, VAT etc.
We'll be travelling to the US next year, I'm going to bring home a 2nd suitcase with goodies

Thanks for the offer!!

I work for a US company but they don't do internal shipments, otherwise I'd have explored that. And international travel has been restricted the last few years.
